Meet Dr Alison Edgar MBE

Growing up in Clydebank with undiagnosed dyslexia and no GCSEs, she was never expected to succeed. Yet Alison went on to build a career in global hospitality, survive a near-death experience during childbirth, and still smash glass ceilings — writing two bestselling books and earning both an MBE for services to entrepreneurship and business as well as an honorary doctorate in education.

But Alison’s story isn’t just about her. It’s about the lessons she’s learned along the way which she now shares with organisations around the world.

By combining lived experience with over 30 years advising and consulting businesses, Alison created The Intrapreneur Mindset: a proven framework that equips employees with the skills and confidence to think like business owners, take responsibility, and drive results.

Alison doesn’t just talk about change — she has lived the cost of getting it wrong.

In the mid-2000s, she worked for a market leader that dismissed digital disruption, claiming “That Google thing will never catch on.” Alison saw customers moving online, but the business refused to adapt — and within years, its market share collapsed.

By contrast, her dad faced disruption in shipbuilding but retrained and thrived. Two very different responses, two very different outcomes.

Alison brings those lessons to her keynotes, showing teams that change isn’t optional — and the only way to win is to change on the way up, not the way down.
