Motivational speakers in the UK average £5,000 to £6,000 per engagement. That figure comes from 250 bookers who had booked a speaker in the previous 24 months, surveyed for the 2025 Speaker Industry Research.

What is the average fee for a UK motivational speaker?

Across the 250 bookers surveyed, the average sat between £5,000 and £6,000 for a keynote. Broken down, male speakers averaged £6,029 per booking and female speakers £5,248.

Most fees cluster fairly tightly. Women’s fees group between £4,500 and £6,000. Around one in six male bookings reached £7,000 or more, against none for women, and the highest single fee recorded was £9,000. The full range ran from £2,500 to £9,000, and both ends of it were gendered: the £9,000 went to a man, the £2,500 to a woman.

Why do published price ranges vary so wildly?

Search for speaker costs and you will find guides quoting anything from £1,000 to £50,000. Those ranges are technically accurate and practically useless, because they fold three different markets into one number: celebrity and TV bookings, sporting names, and working professional speakers.

If you are booking someone to change how a team thinks about a business problem, the professional speaker market is the one that applies to you, and that market has a much narrower band.

What moves a quote up or down?

Five things account for most of the variation.

Format. A virtual session costs less than an in-person keynote because there is no travel, no accommodation and less time out of the diary. Alison’s virtual sessions start from £3,000 + VAT for that reason.

Audience size and seniority. A board away day and a 2,000-person conference are different jobs.

Time of year. Conference season is busier and prices reflect it. Summer is quieter.

Location. Travel, an overnight stay and a full day out of the diary all sit inside the fee.

Tailoring. A speaker who runs a discovery call, rewrites the talk around your objectives and does a rehearsal is spending days on your event, not an hour.

What does the top of the market look like?

Fees above £9,000 generally buy recognition rather than relevance. That can be exactly right if the goal is ticket sales or press coverage, and it can be a poor use of budget if the goal is behaviour change in a team of 200 who will never mention the name afterwards.
